Lewis Hamilton Penalized in Mexico City Grand Prix

Must read

The Formula 1 stewards have provided an explanation for penalizing Lewis Hamilton during the Mexico City Grand Prix. Hamilton was investigated for leaving the track while battling Max Verstappen, leading to a demand for punishment from Verstappen. Although initially cleared for not using the designated escape road, Hamilton was penalized due to carrying excessive speed, making it impossible to comply with the race director’s instructions. As a result, no further action was taken regarding this issue.

However, the stewards found that Hamilton gained an unfair advantage by leaving the track, resulting in a 10-second time penalty. This penalty dropped Hamilton to eighth place after serving it during his first pit stop. Despite his frustration and disappointment with the outcome, Hamilton acknowledged the nature of motor racing and the points he was able to secure.

During the race, Hamilton expressed discontent over the penalty through radio communication with his race engineer. He defended his actions, highlighting the challenging conditions he faced while attempting to rejoin the track safely. Despite the setback, Hamilton managed to salvage some points from the race.

Sky has recently enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle by adding HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu, along with 135 channels and comprehensive Formula 1 coverage. This upgrade includes broadcasting all practice sessions, qualifiers, and races throughout the season, in addition to exclusive coverage of other sports events such as the Premier League, EFL, darts, and golf.

Hamilton’s post-race interviews reflected his disappointment with the result but also showcased his determination to navigate challenging situations on the track. He emphasized the difficulties he faced during the incident that led to his penalty and expressed satisfaction with earning valuable points in the race.
