Lindsey Vonn recently shared insights into her challenging recovery process following a severe injury during the Winter Olympics. Despite sustaining an ACL injury just days before, Vonn bravely competed in downhill skiing in Italy but suffered a serious fall that required hospitalization.
After undergoing multiple surgeries and dealing with compartment syndrome and a broken ankle, Vonn credits Dr. Tom Hackett with saving her leg from potential amputation. The 41-year-old athlete now faces a significant physical and mental rehabilitation journey ahead.
Expressing her struggles, Vonn acknowledged the mental battle she is now confronting alongside the physical hardships. She emphasized the importance of learning from past injuries to emerge stronger each time.
While back in the United States, Vonn revealed that her hospital stay was prolonged due to low haemoglobin levels from surgeries, necessitating a blood transfusion. Currently immobile and using a wheelchair due to a broken ankle, she remains optimistic about her recovery journey, focusing on gradual progress through rehabilitation.
