Ronnie O’Sullivan is set to make a bid for two world titles at the Crucible this year by entering the World Seniors Snooker Championship. The 50-year-old, known for his competitiveness, will compete against players on the senior circuit and aim for his eighth World Championship win in his 34th consecutive appearance this spring.
O’Sullivan will also participate in the senior tournament in Yorkshire, scheduled to take place from May 6 over a span of five days. The World Seniors Snooker Tour announced O’Sullivan’s inclusion, highlighting him as the sport’s most commercially successful figure and anticipating a strong lineup for the event.
Among the participants are world champions Mark Williams, Stuart Bingham, and Ken Doherty, along with other notable players like Jimmy White, Matthew Stevens, and Tony Drago. The event will also feature reigning Seniors British Open Champion Joe Perry, creating an exciting field for fans.
Jason Francis, the tour’s chairman, expressed excitement about O’Sullivan’s debut in the Seniors event at the Crucible and the potential for him to add another world title to his impressive career. Following the 2025 World Championship, the World Snooker Tour modified rules to allow top 64 players aged 45 or older to compete in the senior circuit.
O’Sullivan, with seven world titles to his name, will aim to secure an eighth title after his last victory in 2022. Stephen Hendry, whose record he equaled with his seventh win, has expressed support for O’Sullivan’s pursuit of further success. Hendry emphasized the significance of winning at a young age, highlighting O’Sullivan’s achievements in the sport.
