A passenger recounted the terrifying experience of a man who entered a train in Huntingdon and proceeded to stab passengers after uttering a chilling phrase repeatedly. Stephen Crean, a Londoner who showed courage by confronting the knifeman during the mass stabbing incident, shared that the assailant waved a blade at him while asking, “Do you want to die?” multiple times. The chaotic situation unfolded shortly after Stephen boarded the train at Grantham on Saturday evening, returning from a Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United match. Panic ensued as several passengers ran through the carriage alerting others about the presence of a knife-wielding individual.
Stephen described how passengers sought refuge at the bottom of the train near the buffet bar, as he found himself face-to-face with the attacker. The knife-wielding man menaced Stephen by repeatedly questioning his desire to live. The violent episode resulted in injuries to eleven passengers on the LNER train traveling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, prompting an emergency stop at Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. Among the victims treated at the hospital, four were discharged, while two individuals, including a heroic train staff member, are in critical condition.
Anthony Williams, aged 32, faced charges at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court for ten counts of attempted murder and one count of bodily harm stemming from the train attack. Additionally, he faces a charge of attempted murder related to an incident on London’s DLR network earlier in November, as confirmed by the British Transport Police. During his court appearance today, Williams, clad in a grey tracksuit and flanked by officers, was denied bail due to the severe nature of the offenses. The judge scheduled his appearance at Cambridge Crown Court for December 1, 2025. Williams remained silent when asked for his address, simply stating “no fixed abode.”
