“Macklemore’s Free Palestine Tour Sells Out Europe”

Must read

Macklemore’s recently announced tour to raise funds for organizations supporting Palestinians saw all three shows selling out quickly. This development occurred shortly after the four-time Grammy winner unveiled the October tour dates in Dublin, Paris, and London under the banner of the Free Palestine tour.

The rapper has yet to disclose the lineup for the shows, with the initial post hinting at appearances by Macklemore “and friends.” Macklemore assured fans that details on the performers will be revealed soon. This European tour was announced following Macklemore’s removal as an opener for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. tour leg.

Expressing his astonishment, Macklemore shared his gratitude on Instagram, emphasizing the rapid organization of the shows and the collective effort to support Palestine through music. While inquiries about potential Canadian shows remain unanswered by Macklemore’s representatives, the artist extended thanks to the Dublin, Paris, and London audiences for their overwhelming support.

Live Nation’s press release confirmed that the tour proceeds will benefit various Palestinian aid organizations, including Gaza Soup Kitchen, Palestinian Youth Movement, Jewish Voice for Peace, and UNRWA USA.

The decision to drop Macklemore from Sheeran’s tour was prompted by threats from the owners of American venues, including Robert Kraft of The Kraft Group, which led to Macklemore’s removal. Macklemore’s longstanding pro-Palestinian stance has been evident in his public statements and performances over the years.

Following Sheeran’s response to the controversy, all other openers, including Sheeran’s backing band, withdrew from the tour. Addressing the situation during a performance in Philadelphia, Sheeran clarified his position on activism in music. The shows at Gillette Stadium were ultimately canceled due to severe weather conditions.
