“Thieves Swipe 70,000 Pints of Guinness in UK”

Thieves in the United Kingdom have taken their illicit activities to a new level. Authorities in Britain are currently working to recover 70,000 pints of stolen Guinness beer. The stolen goods, consisting of two trailer truckloads of the renowned rich and creamy dark beer, have an estimated value of 115,000 pounds ($216,000 Cdn). The theft occurred at a depot near Liverpool in northwest England, as reported by the Cheshire Constabulary on Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Gary McClatchy emphasized the importance of the lawful acquisition of Guinness, stating, “It is famously said that ‘Guinness is good for you,’ but that is only the case when it has been bought and paid for. We are committed to retrieving all the stolen items in full.”

This incident follows a recent beer theft in the United States that garnered public attention due to the brewery’s humorous social media posts regarding the loss of approximately 34,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon. The stolen Guinness was intended for distribution to pubs but was intercepted on Monday night by two drivers who seized the trailers at an industrial park in Runcorn, making off with around 800 barrels of stout. The trailers themselves were estimated to be worth 50,000 pounds ($93,000).

In a separate case in Southern California, thieves made off with Pabst Blue Ribbon beer from a warehouse, resulting in a loss valued at $70,000 US ($97,000 Cdn). The company has offered a $20,000 US reward for any information leading to the recovery of the stolen beverages.

In response to the theft, the brewery took to social media, addressing the thief directly: “To the thief: we don’t fault you for wanting to brag to your friends how much PBR you have, we just wish you obtained it the honorable way. P.s. this is real and we are deadly serious.”
