Music icon Trevor Horn surprised fans with a spontaneous performance alongside emerging artist Sophie Grey at O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. The duo delighted the crowd by performing the classic hit “Video Killed the Radio Star,” receiving praise on social media for their unexpected collaboration.
Sophie and Trevor reimagined the iconic song, blending her Retro Electro style with the timeless new-wave essence of the track, creating a standout moment in her set. Sophie, a classically-trained pianist mentored by Dr. Patrice Rushen, expressed that the song’s themes remain relevant as history repeats itself.
“Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles made history as the first music video played on MTV in August 1981. The band, formed by Horn and Geoff Downes, achieved chart-topping success with the release of the song in 1979.
Following the surprise performance, Trevor Horn is gearing up for a short tour, while Sophie continues her own tour with upcoming shows in London. Fans can catch Horn’s concerts in Newcastle, Manchester, and London at the end of the year.
