“Man Arrested for Train Attack Injuring 11 Passengers”

A man has been arrested in connection with a violent incident on a train in Huntington that resulted in eleven individuals sustaining injuries.

The suspect, identified as Anthony Williams, aged 32, faces multiple charges, including ten counts of attempted murder, one count of causing bodily harm, and one count of possessing a bladed weapon. The British Transport Police (BTP) disclosed that Williams, residing on Langford Road in Peterborough, is scheduled to appear at Peterborough Magistrates Court today. Additionally, he has been charged with another attempted murder offense and possession of a bladed item in relation to a separate incident at Pontoon Dock DLR station in London on November 1.

The attack occurred on a train journey from Doncaster to London King’s Cross aboard the 6:25 pm LNER service, leading to the injury of eleven passengers. The train was rapidly rerouted to Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire for an immediate stop around an hour into the trip. BTP reported that two suspects were apprehended on the train within eight minutes of law enforcement intervention, with one of them being subdued by a Taser after wielding a knife.

Following the incident, eleven victims received medical treatment, with four individuals discharged, while two patients, including a courageous train staff member, remained in critical condition as confirmed by the police on Sunday. Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy emphasized the significance of the criminal investigation and victim support, stating that the BTP’s top priorities.

Tracy Easton, the chief crown prosecutor for CPS Direct, announced the formal charges against Anthony Williams, citing eleven counts of attempted murder, one count of assault causing bodily harm, and two counts of possessing a bladed weapon. The decision to prosecute was based on substantial evidence gathered during a collaborative effort between the Crown Prosecution Service and British Transport Police.

The tragic events aboard the train on Saturday have deeply affected the nation, and the CPS extended sympathies to all those impacted, recognizing the widespread shock caused by the incident.
