Russian drones target Coca-Cola plant near Kyiv

Must read

Russian drones have targeted and caused damage to a Coca-Cola facility near Kyiv, as confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The incident took place close to the town of Brovary, east of the capital, with no reported injuries. Zelenskyy described the attack in his nightly address, highlighting the use of Iranian-designed drones to set fire to the Coca-Cola plant as a symbolic move by Russia, signaling their awareness of the facility’s American ownership.

Footage from Reuters TV displayed firefighting teams responding to the scene, with smoke billowing from the plant and spreading across the surrounding fields. Andy Hunder, the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, assured that the plant’s employees were unharmed and that efforts were underway to evaluate the situation, emphasizing the importance of ensuring people’s safety.

A spokesperson for the Coca-Cola Company, representing the independent bottler Coca-Cola HBC that owns the Ukrainian plant, confirmed the safety of all employees following the attack. The company is actively collaborating with authorities to assess the impact of the incident. The assault on the Coca-Cola plant is part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which escalated into a full-scale invasion by Russia in February 2022.
