“Anthony Joshua’s Driver Charged in Fatal Crash”

Must read

Anthony Joshua’s driver faces charges of reckless and dangerous driving following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two close friends of the boxer. Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, was driving Joshua, along with Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, in a black Lexus Jeep when they collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Kayode, who fled the scene, has been charged and granted bail pending further legal proceedings.

Police have revealed that Kayode faces four charges, including causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver’s license. The case has been adjourned until January 20. Meanwhile, Joshua has been discharged from the hospital after sustaining minor injuries in the crash and paid his respects to the deceased at a funeral home.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by a tire blowout due to speeding. The truck involved in the crash was found to have been parked illegally. Tributes from the boxing community poured in for the victims, with Eddie Hearn, Chris Eubank Jr, and others expressing their condolences. The tragic incident has cast doubt on Joshua’s future fights, including a potential showdown with Tyson Fury, as the boxing world mourns the loss of two integral members of Joshua’s team.
