In a separate incident, an 80-year-old woman named Suzanne Rees was found deceased on Lizard Island in Queensland, Australia. She was on a cruise but was left behind after falling ill during an organized hike. The cruise ship departed without her, leading to her disappearance and subsequent discovery by authorities.
The family of Ms. Rees criticized the cruise operator, Coral Expeditions, for what they described as a lack of care and judgment in handling the situation. Coral Expeditions’ CEO expressed regret over the incident, stating that a search and rescue operation was conducted upon realizing the passenger was missing.
While investigations continue, Coral Expeditions pledged full cooperation with authorities and extended support to the family of the deceased. The company emphasized its commitment to assisting the family through the challenging process and collaborating with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation.
