Exploring Scottish holiday destinations has been on the rise, with attention drawn to places like the Wyndham Duchally Country Estate, a unique blend of Center Parcs and luxury hotel. Situated within 27 acres of picturesque Perthshire countryside, this estate boasts nine elegant hotel rooms and 55 self-catering lodges that compete with the grandeur of the Highlands.
The lodges, featuring two or three bedrooms with corresponding bathrooms, are fully equipped surpassing the amenities found at Center Parcs. These lodges offer well-furnished kitchens ideal for self-catering vacations, complete with a range of appliances such as toaster, kettle, oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, and full-size fridge with freezer.
Despite the cold weather, the lodges provide a cozy and warm atmosphere aided by efficient electric radiators with individual controls, as highlighted by reports from OK! It’s advised to be cautious with these radiators, especially when traveling with young children, as they can get quite hot.
Complimentary WiFi is accessible throughout the lodges and main hotel, ensuring seamless connectivity for up to four devices per room or lodge.
Many lodges are currently undergoing upgrades to modernize the facilities. While no disruptions were evident during our visit, it’s recommended to contact the Estate for updates on the renovation timelines.
Direct booking often presents attractive deals, like a 25% discount on lodge stays between December 1, 2025, and March 21, 2026.
For dining options, guests can choose between the a la carte Monteath’s Restaurant and The Gatehouse Bar, which offers a light menu from 12:30pm to 9pm. Noteworthy is the Estate’s signature Gatehouse Gin, along with well-crafted cocktails like the espresso martini.
The restaurant menu features traditional Scottish dishes such as smoked salmon pate and haggis pakora as starters, and mains like fish and chips, mac and cheese, and sirloin steak. The quality of food, especially the steak and sticky toffee pudding for dessert, was particularly impressive.
The Estate provides ample safe spaces for children to play, including a designated kids’ pool at the Leisure Centre. Lodges are equipped with amenities like retractable stair gates for added safety.
Guests can indulge in relaxation at the Beauty by Brenda spa, offering various treatments including a special Little Miss Manicure for young guests. The spa facilities are complimentary for Estate guests, and reservations are recommended for treatments.
In addition to the indoor pool, guests can enjoy a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and gym at the leisure center. The spa services, particularly massages and facials, have garnered a loyal following.
Notably, the Estate is pet-friendly, allowing a maximum of two dogs in selected lodges with prior booking. The surroundings are ideal for outdoor activities, with ample countryside, footpaths, fishing areas, and mountain biking trails to explore.
Conveniently located just a short drive from Perth, guests can also visit nearby attractions like Drummond Castle, Scone Palace, and Blair Drummond Safari Park. Golf enthusiasts can access Gleneagles hotel and Auchterarder Golf Club within close proximity.
As a bonus, the Estate offers themed entertainment like murder mystery nights, providing a unique and engaging experience for guests. These interactive events, complete with live-action performances and dining, add an exciting element to the stay.
