“Fatal Collision Involving Two Transport Trucks on Trans-Canada Highway”

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported a fatal incident involving two commercial transport trucks on the Trans-Canada Highway in central Newfoundland. A 47-year-old man lost his life at the crash site, which occurred near Gullbridge, also known as Gull Pond Bridge, between Badger and South Brook, early Tuesday morning.

The police were called to the scene shortly after 2:15 a.m. NT on Tuesday. Upon arrival, both vehicles were engulfed in flames. The driver of one truck, a 47-year-old man traveling eastbound, was pronounced dead on-site. The driver of the other truck, heading westbound, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

As a result of the police response, a section of the Trans-Canada Highway between Badger and South Brook was closed for several hours on Tuesday. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
