“Teacher Accused of Sexual Relationship with Student”

Must read

A 28-year-old teacher, Teresa Whalin, is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student and subsequently harassing him after their breakup. Allegations suggest that Whalin not only had intimate relations with the student but also exchanged explicit photos with him. Additionally, the teacher purportedly resorted to creating fake phone numbers to contact the student.

According to reports, the boy faced mental health challenges following the alleged affair, which supposedly began in April 2023. An affidavit revealed that the student described the connection as “dating,” involving communication via Snapchat, dining out together, and spending time in the teacher’s classroom. Subsequently, the student cut off communication with Whalin, prompting her alleged stalking behavior as she grappled with the breakup. Instances include Whalin driving to the student’s residence and appearing along his school route in Denver, Colorado.

Upon disclosing the alleged misconduct to a school counselor, the student’s actions led to police involvement, resulting in Whalin’s arrest the same day. During police questioning, Whalin reportedly confessed to the inappropriate relationship, the exchange of explicit images, and the creation of fake numbers to reach the student anonymously, believing it would lead him to seek her assistance.

Whalin now faces charges of sexual assault on a minor in a position of trust, internet exploitation of a minor, and stalking. She has been detained at the Douglas County Detention Center on a $50,000 (£37,907) bond. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her employment with the school district since July 2021 and her placement on administrative leave. The district has been informed of the arrest and is cooperating with the investigation, with inquiries ongoing.
