The individual facing charges in connection with the tragic car accident involving former boxing champion Anthony Joshua has made an appearance in a Nigerian court. Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, lost their lives in the collision with a stationary lorry near Lagos on December 29. Joshua sustained injuries but survived and was hospitalized. The accused, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, appeared in Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state near Lagos, with the case being adjourned to March 13. He faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving and reckless driving.
Kayode, who has not yet entered a plea, was released on bail of around £2,600. Additionally, he is charged with driving without due care and without a valid driver’s license, potentially facing a life sentence. Prosecutors requested more time to gather evidence. Joshua, who narrowly escaped death, was discharged from the hospital on New Year’s Eve, returning to the UK in January for rehabilitation.
