“British Vacation Destination Hit by Sewage Outbreak”

Must read

Horrified residents in a popular British vacation destination have shared disturbing videos of apparent sewage surfacing through the ground amid heavy rainfall.

Disturbing visuals depict sewage rising, lifting a manhole cover, and spilling onto the pavement. The heavy rain caused the waste to liquefy, swiftly flooding the area in a murky brown hue. This video, shared online on October 29, was filmed on a main street in Fuengirola, a beloved spot for British tourists and expatriates on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

“It’s a terrible smell,” remarked a local passerby. A town hall representative mentioned, “We have deployed a specialized team with vehicles and personnel working throughout the city to survey and address any necessary actions. The area is under close monitoring, and efforts are underway to restore normalcy.”

On social media, users humorously commented on the situation, with one individual joking, “When nature calls at the wrong moment.” Another video, shared the same day, displays a “faecal fountain” in Torremolinos, another popular British vacation spot. An ankle-deep flow of sewage rushed down the road, with a spray column resembling a water feature in the center. The Andalusia region of Spain woke up to turmoil as a severe storm lashed the area with heavy rain, tornadoes, and flash floods.

The provinces of Huelva and Seville were the most impacted, with Huelva experiencing up to 160 liters of rainfall per square meter. This incident follows an explosion on a “tourist boat” in the Costa del Sol resort a month earlier. Eight individuals were injured, three of whom sustained severe injuries and were hospitalized. The explosion occurred as the motorboat, locally referred to as a tourist boat, departed from the marina in the Spanish town.

Footage from the scene showed firefighters at the marina extinguishing the flames with hoses from the nearest dry land point after locals on jet skis and other boats assisted the distressed passengers and attempted to contain the fire. The explosion, resulting in a black plume of smoke visible from nearby beaches, prompted several witnesses to contact emergency services. The cause of the explosion remains unclear.

A fisherman in the vicinity mentioned, “It was an open polyester boat, a hazardous combination with fuel due to its quick burning nature.” The boat sank due to the fire onboard, leading to the area’s closure for investigation.

Fuengirola Town Hall issued a statement saying, “Today, the Rescue and Lifesaving Service, Fire Department, Local Police of Fuengirola, and Civil Guard responded to a boat fire near the marina’s entrance. An explosion occurred, causing the boat to catch fire. The Rescue Service promptly reached the crew, evacuating them to safety.

“Eight individuals were aboard, all injured, with three in critical condition, receiving emergency medical treatment. Subsequent to the explosion, the boat sank, with the Andalusian Ports Agency closely monitoring for necessary anti-spill measures.”
