Scottie Scheffler has now entered the $100 million club, joining the ranks of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy after an impressive victory at The American Express to kick off his season. As the current world No.1, Scheffler has sent a clear message to the reigning Masters champion that he is a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming Majors.
Despite being sidelined in January last year due to a hand injury caused by a shattered wine glass during Christmas, Scheffler has made a spectacular comeback in 2026. His recent triumph in California, finishing at 27-under par with a closing six-under 66, marked his 20th PGA Tour win in just four years, granting him a lifetime membership. Notably, nine of his victories have been by a margin of four shots or more.
With his earnings reaching $101,109,136, thanks to the $1.656 million prize from his latest win, Scheffler has now joined the exclusive club of Woods and McIlroy in surpassing the nine-figure mark on the PGA Tour. At 29 years old, Scheffler has also achieved a milestone shared only by Woods and Jack Nicklaus as one of the few players to secure 20 PGA Tour titles and four majors before turning 30.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, Scheffler expressed his gratitude, stating, “Any time you can get mentioned with those guys it means you’re doing some stuff right. It’s been a great start to my career. It’s been special. I try not to think about that stuff too much. I was just trying to do the things I needed to do to be prepared.”
Since claiming his first victory at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, Scheffler has outperformed McIlroy with 11 additional wins, including his recent success, which marks his seventh win in the last 13 stroke-play events. Maintaining a consistent performance, Scheffler has not finished below T-8 since his T-20 at The Players last March.
Jason Day, the joint runner-up and former world No.1, acknowledged Scheffler’s exceptional performance, likening it to Tiger-esque achievements. Day emphasized the difficulty of staying competitive and hungry in the sport, highlighting Scheffler’s consistent presence at the top of leaderboards.
Looking ahead, Scheffler remains determined to improve further, noting his slow start last season and emphasizing the progress he aims to make before the upcoming Masters tournament in April. Additionally, teenager Blades Brown emerged as a standout performer during the event, expressing awe at playing alongside Scheffler and witnessing his victory, showcasing the impact of Scheffler’s dominance on his peers in the golfing world.
